Jalisco is one of the Mexican states most affected by drug trafficking, with several drug cartels operating in the region, including two of the most violent and powerful: Sinaloa cartel And Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
For this reason, the state tops the list of missing persons, many of whom unfortunately end up in secret graves or even in crematoria used by criminal gangs, according to state government intelligence reports accessed by the Milenio newspaper.
According to the information received, the Sinaloa cartel owns brick kilns in the municipality of Tecoaltich, whose kilns are used for burn and disappear the bodies of your rivals.
These places are under the control of an individual identified as Eric Lara, who is the head of the cartel square and is associated with the Los Chapitos faction, i.e. children Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
The Tecoaltiche region, like the municipalities of Lagos de Moreno, Encarnacion de Diaz and San Juan de los Lagos, is a disputed area between the Sinaloa cartel and the CJNG, so disappearances are more common in this area, mostly people, who work for one of the criminal gangs, many of which end up in these crematoria.
A ministry agent involved in the search for the five missing youths in Lagos de Moreno confirmed to Milenio that the skeletal remains found at Teocaltic were inside one of these ovens.and whose photo was publicly circulated.
The official added that the bone fragments have a high degree of calcification, so he considered that it would be very difficult to extract organic material for DNA tests.
But that’s not all, because, according to an audio recording that the Mexican media had access to, this situation has been known to the authorities for three years. In the footage, members of the Jalisco State’s Specialized Missing Attorney’s Office are heard explaining to agency officials how brick kilns are used to make people disappear.
In this regard, the Jalisco Search Commission recognized that they could not enter the brick factories, as they are private property, unless accompanied by the prosecutor’s office and with a court order.
For their part, the search parties consulted by Milenio indicated that no investigations were carried out at the brick factories, as these are dangerous areas even for the authorities.
