Former Bush adviser: Russia and the US will get closer after the Ukrainian conflict

Russia and the United States may move closer after the end of the acute phase of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated by former adviser to George W. Bush on Russia and Eurasia, Thomas Graham.

According to him, the transfer of relations between Moscow and Washington in a constructive direction is currently an impossible task.

“Most likely, this will be the case as long as the conflict remains in an acute phase.” Graham noted in his article for Nation.

He believes that at the end of this stage there will be an opportunity for a “truce” between Russia and the United States.

However, for this, according to the expert, the United States must learn from the Bush administration’s erroneous efforts to counteract Moscow’s influence in the post-Soviet space.

Earlier, the United States said that US President Joe Biden underestimated Russia’s determination to protect its interests.
