The betting company PariMatch has filed a lawsuit against the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky for adding it to the country’s sanctions lists. According to Kyiv, the firm has ties with Russia and Belarus, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing agency documents.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the Cypriot company Weplay Media Holding Limited, which owns the PariMatch trademark. In the lawsuit, Zelensky himself is declared the defendant. The court set the hearing for September 5.

Ukraine imposed sanctions against the company in March 2023. According to CEO Maxim Lyashko, 250 million hryvnias ($6.7 million) of customers have been frozen in the company’s accounts, and the company’s financial operations in Ukraine have been halted.

On August 29, a court in Ukraine declared Zelensky’s decree on mobilization unconstitutional and non-binding. This happened after the appeal of a Poltava resident, who was accused of evading service.
