Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences to the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed al-Menfi, in connection with the casualties and destruction after the flood.

“Dear Mr. Chairman, please accept our sincere condolences for the numerous loss of life and widespread destruction caused by the hurricane and flooding.”says the telegram published on website Kremlin.

The head of state asked to convey words of sympathy and support to the relatives and friends of the victims. Putin also stressed that Russia is ready to provide the necessary assistance to Libya.

Let us recall that on September 10, Cyclone Daniel hit north-east Libya. He brought with him storm winds and downpours with thunderstorms.

Heavy rains caused severe floods. Water flooded many homes, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure. In the cities that suffered the most from the disaster, a state of emergency was introduced.

It is noted that about seven thousand people were missing and at least 35 died as a result of the flood.
