On Monday, January 15, a powerful explosion occurred in a commercial building specializing in furniture sales in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Three people lost their lives in the fire that broke out as a result of the incident. This was reported by YeniÇağ news agency.
According to the publication, 24 people suffered various injuries of varying severity during the incident.
15 ambulances, as well as state fire brigade employees, were dispatched to the area where the explosion occurred. According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies, it was possible to localize the fire in the furniture workshop thanks to quick and urgent measures. Rescue teams continue to actively work at the scene until the consequences are completely eliminated.
According to preliminary information, one injured person was treated at the scene. However, 23 people with various injuries had to be admitted to medical institutions.
Emergency services were informed that 10 people were evacuated to the Clinical Medical Center with a diagnosis of multiple trauma to the joints, multiple burns and fractures to the trunk.
More than 10 people with burns of various severities were evacuated to the burn center. Currently, each of the victims is receiving necessary medical care.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
