The number of employees at the Russian Embassy in the Netherlands has been reduced to five. Ambassador Alexander Shulgin announced this.
“Limiting the number of diplomatic personnel is a double-edged sword“, he emphasized in a conversation with “Izvestia”.
Let us recall that in February of this year the Netherlands demanded that the embassy staff be reduced to four diplomats. However, later it was possible to increase the number of diplomats to five.
According to Shulgin, the embassy, despite all the difficulties, continues to operate. Particular attention is paid to the functioning of the consular department. As the ambassador notes, the Dutch have not lost interest in Russia and continue to receive visas for tourism, study and business.
The actions of the Dutch authorities also affected the work of the embassy in Moscow. Shulgin clarifies that in this regard, the number of diplomats in both countries was increased to five. However, in his opinion, it is too early to talk about any improvements.
