Texas governor declares an ‘invasion’ on his border and orders more immigrants sent to sanctuary cities

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday declared an “invasion” of the state’s southern border and ordered the deployment of the Texas National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety and local law enforcement to apprehend illegal immigrants coming from Mexico.

“I have officially declared an invasion of our border due to Biden’s policies,” Abbott wrote Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter. “We are building a border wall, barbed wire and sea barriers. “We are also pushing immigrants away.”

Abbott said that using his authority, plans to step up efforts to repel and return migrants trying to enter Texas through a border crossing that Congress has deemed illegal and arrest those who violate Texas laws.

Abbott’s announcement of the invasion came Wednesday as the mayor of Eagle Pass issued a local disaster declaration asking for additional resources after about 4,000 migrants arrived in the border town on Wednesday and a line of people stretched five miles until it reached Mexico .

More buses to transport immigrants

In addition to beefing up personnel to prevent immigrants from arriving in south Texas, Abbott has stepped up enforcement of his own Lone Star plan to control the flow of immigrants into the state.even though they were properly processed and cleared to enter the United States when he ordered the use of more buses to transport immigrants to other states, the governor’s office said in a statement.

Abbott issued these orders when Texas is the scene of a new immigration crisis and the release of many migrants at the border.

To date, Texas has sent about 40,000 migrants to cities including Washington, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver and Los Angeles.

“President (Joe) Biden’s continued failure to secure our border results in thousands of illegal border crossings into Texas and our country every day,” the Republican governor said.

And he argued that Texas communities like Eagle Pass and El Paso “should not tolerate an unprecedented surge in illegal immigration caused by President Biden’s reckless open border policies.”

According to the statement, The buses in Eagle Pass and El Paso are being deployed in addition to border operations in Brownsville, Del Rio, Laredo and McAllen.
