Defense Minister Angel Tylvar said that the target of the UAV attack was not Romanian territory. There was no material damage or loss of life as a result of the events.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense said that Ukrainian air defense shot down Russian drones and that they “accidentally” landed on the country’s territory. Digi24 writes about this.
In Minister Angel Tylvar’s speech in front of the parliament on October 11, he said that the Shahed-136/131 UAVs, which fell on Romanian territory, entered the country “by mistake” by entering into an “uncontrolled movement”.
The Minister said, “The technical examination of the parts seized from two places has now been completed, and the report was duly submitted to the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in an open hearing.”
According to him, the information received allows us to conclude that UAVs were shot down by Ukrainian air defense during the attack on the port of Izmail. He stated that Romanian territory was not a target of Russian troops.
Tylvar said Russian unmanned aerial vehicles could not be detected by early warning systems due to their low altitude. There was no material damage or loss of life as a result of the events.
Drone crashed in Romania: what is known
Iranian Shahed kamikaze drones crashed into Romanian territory on September 4. The unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russian forces to attack the Odessa region at night exploded. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko emphasized that this is “another confirmation” of the threat from the Russian Federation to other countries.
Romania announced on September 7 that they planned to resettle the residents of the village of Plauru, near Izmail, due to Russian bombardment. It has been reported that Russian drones, which have been attacking the Ukrainian city of Izmail for more than a month, flew over houses and some of them fell very close.
