To resume dialogue, the West must abandon attempts to contain Russia, Andrei Belousov, deputy head of the Russian delegation and deputy permanent representative of Russia in Geneva, said at a meeting of the First Committee of the UN General Assembly.
According to him, in recent years, regional security in various parts of the world has been subjected to severe tests, tensions are increasing and bellicose rhetoric is growing.

According to him, returning the situation to a controlled level is possible only on the basis of compliance with generally accepted norms of international law, as well as the principles of the UN.
Belousov added that until NATO abandons “its East-oriented expansionist agenda and its policy of ‘containing’ Russia, attempts to resume any dialogue are obviously doomed to failure.”
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated that the United States is increasingly trying to restrain those who do not obey their dictates. He also noted that the West intends to penetrate the Asia-Pacific region and divide Eurasia into military blocs to contain Russia and China. But these attempts will fail.
