Mishustin: Russia hopes that Belarus will soon join the SCO

Russia expects that Belarus will soon complete all procedures for joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). This was stated by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO member states in an expanded format.

“Of course, we hope that Belarus will complete all procedures very soon and become one of the participants in the organization.”– quotes his words TASS.

The Russian prime minister also recalled that Iran joined the SCO as a full member in July of this year. Thus, Mishustin invited his Iranian colleagues to join in multifaceted work.

Earlier, Mishustin said at the meeting that the SCO member countries are jointly capable of resisting the Western protectionist policy. In his opinion, taking into account the current geopolitical realities, it is necessary to continue work to improve the organization’s activities.
