US won’t allow Russia victory: it could push China to war with Taiwan, – Johnson

Aid to Ukraine will require greater accountability for money already spent, according to US House Speaker Mike Johnson.

The United States will not allow Russia to succeed in the conflict with Ukraine because this could lead to China taking military action against Taiwan. According to AP, US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson announced this.

Johnson said the United States will not leave Ukraine. He is confident that Russia’s victory in Ukraine will embolden not only the aggressor country but also China regarding Taiwan.

“We can’t let Putin win in Ukraine because I don’t believe it will all end there,” the speaker said.

But he noted that the provision of aid to Ukraine would be accompanied by increased requirements for transparency and efficiency of funds spent.

Let us also note that the election of the new president, who is a member of the Republican Party, took place on October 25. Mike Johnson, who was considered a supporter of former President Donald Trump’s stance on events in Ukraine, was elected. Johnson was seen as the worst candidate for aid allocation: he had already failed to support the allocation of funds several times. However, he noted that it is important to set clear goals in this regard and control the spending of the Ukrainian government.

In September, senators, under the chairmanship of the previous speaker of the House of Representatives, blocked the allocation of $ 300 million to Ukraine, and in connection with this, on October 2, there was a delay in the adoption of the 2024 US budget. The evaluation was postponed for 45 days.
