Ukrainian telephone scammers tried to deceive Carabinieri General from Italy Theo Lusi. Writes about this Il Giornale.
The attackers turned out to be a 45-year-old Ukrainian woman and her 21-year-old son. They wrote a message on the military man’s mobile phone, in which they pretended to be his daughter, who was writing from the supposed number of her friend.
“They wanted to convince me to make an instant transfer of 4,900 euros” – the general told the publication.
According to him, he immediately called his daughter on another phone number, after which he contacted his colleagues. The officer kept in touch with the scammers, convincing them that he would send money as soon as he arrived home.
A couple of hours later, the police were able to find out that the attackers were in Sampierdarene’s apartment. When law enforcement officers came to them, they found several computers, mobile phones, SIM cards and 25 thousand euros in cash. It is possible that the money was also “earned” by deception.
