The black and white cat lived most of his life in a wooden box on Kaszubska Street, and passersby fed him periodically. The animal became popular thanks to a video from a local publication, and cat lovers now travel from all over Europe to see Gacek.
The black and white stray cat named Gacek, who became an icon in Szczecin, Poland, found a new home. British tabloid newspaper Daily Mirror writes about this.
Gacek, who lived in a wooden box on Kashubska Street for many years, attracted the attention of passers-by. The cat became famous after a video published by wSzczecinie in 2020. The publication notes that travelers visit Szczecin specifically to meet the “king of Kashubian Street” in person.
Cat lovers come from all over Europe to see Gacek. One of the tourists said that he came to Szczecin from Oslo to meet the cat.
“As expected, he showed no interest in me. This reaction from the animal made my experience even more rewarding. If I wanted to have lunch with someone, I would fly back here to meet Gacek,” the man said.
Local residents recently became concerned about the cat’s health after tourists gave it too many treats. The city’s Animal Welfare Society even gave him treatment. In September, veterinarians said Gacek was doing very well and had found a new home.
“I’m not Gacek anymore, call me George now… the cat version of George Clooney, I’m doing well and I’m happy about it, running free on the stairs and tables,” the animal welfare group said.
Let us remind you that a cat was hired to work in a historical museum on the Dnieper. The animal will drive mice away from exhibits.
Focus I previously wrote about how a cat locked its 65-year-old owner on the balcony in Lviv. The woman waited for hours to get help from her neighbors and the police.
