Tensions are growing at the White House between the two presidential officials responsible for interacting with journalists – strategic communications coordinator John Kirby and press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. About it reports Axios publication.

In public, Kirby and Jean-Pierre regularly share the podium, according to White House sources who wished to remain anonymous. The Strategic Communications Coordinator focuses more on international issues, while the Press Secretary focuses more on domestic policy.

“Behind the scenes, however, their relationship is filled with tension.”says the publication.

The controversy stems from how much time both spend each day talking to the press. Kirby has not publicly stated ambitions to become White House press secretary, but has indicated such a desire when communicating with colleagues. Jean-Pierre intends to retain her post after Biden’s possible re-election for a new term.

Earlier, Jean-Pierre said that the United States was again threatened with a shutdown. According to her, in 16 days the United States may announce a partial cessation of funding for the country’s government.
