Departments in Pyongyang responsible for dialogue and contact with Seoul were liquidated. Kim Jong-un accused South Korea and the United States of increasing tensions in the region.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said that South Korea should be written into the constitution as “enemy state number 1”. This was reported by the Korean Central News Agency or KCNA.
It was also reported that the units in North Korea responsible for establishing dialogue and contact with the South were liquidated. This decision was taken at the meeting of the North Korean Parliament. Therefore, the Supreme People’s Congress stated that Pyongyang and Seoul are in an “acute conflict.” Moreover, North Korea should not have seen the South as a partner.
“The Committee for the Peaceful Unification of the Country, the National Economic Cooperation Bureau and the International Tourism Office, which were instruments for dialogue, negotiation and cooperation between the North and the South, were abolished,” the statement said.
KCNA also said the North Korean government would take “practical measures” to implement this decision.
Kim Jong-un accused South Korea and the United States of increasing tensions in the region. In his view, it is no longer possible for Pyongyang to reach a compromise, and there will be no peaceful reunification with the South.
It was previously reported that North Korea tested a new solid-fuel ballistic missile with high maneuverability. The purpose of the tests was to test the performance of the medium-range hypersonic missile and the reliability of its new multi-stage high-thrust solid-fuel engines.
