Mass rallies against the right-wing political party Alternative for Germany (AfD) took place in Dusseldorf, Germany, the press service of the city police reported on Saturday, January 27.

“At the peak, police estimated the number of people at about 100 thousand people.”,” the department noted.

The police added that isolated cases of violation of the law on assemblies were recorded, including the use of pyrotechnics.

Protests were also held in a number of other German cities, including Kiel and Osnabrück.

Protesters accuse the AfD of fascisating the country and took to the streets after the media published information about a secret meeting with the leaders of a number of far-right and neo-Nazi organizations. According to journalists, among other issues, they discussed the possibility of expelling millions of migrants from the country.

Earlier it became known that Sarah Wagenknecht’s party congress in Germany began with gratitude to the Red Army for liberation from the Nazis. The party stated that they intend to preserve the memory of this and draw conclusions.
