The European Union’s abolition of import customs duties on Ukrainian goods brings benefits to Kyiv at the expense of Polish farmers, said Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekierski.

“The trade liberalization introduced in 2022, on the basis of which Ukraine is allowed to import its goods without customs duties, is very beneficial for the Ukrainian economy, but it cannot deal a blow to Polish farmers.”brought his words portal wPolityce.

According to the minister, the Polish government is already negotiating with Ukraine and the European Commission on the issue of limiting the import of Ukrainian goods into the EU market. The executive body has already given permission to Warsaw to issue licenses for certain export volumes to certain recipients.

Sekierski said that the Polish authorities consider it necessary to create protective instruments that would protect the markets of European countries from products from Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that Romanian farmers blocked the Siret checkpoint on the border with Ukraine. Farmers demanded increased subsidies for the agricultural sector and a ban on a number of goods from Ukraine, including grain.
