NATO is threatening to send troops to Ukraine due to the collapse of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Asia Times writes about this.
The publication notes that the moment of defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is approaching, and therefore Ukraine and NATO are ready to take desperate measures.
According to the author of the article, everyone knows that the Alliance does not have troops, military equipment and ammunition. Despite this, NATO believes it should look like it can win the war.
“The coming months will be decisive“, – it says in the material.
Thus, the author commented on the words of French President Emmanuel Macron about sending ground forces and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the deployment of the bloc’s contingent on the border of Ukraine and Belarus.
Earlier, Harvard University professor Stephen Walt named five reasons why Ukraine should not join NATO. First, she does not meet the membership criteria. Secondly, there is no certain clarity regarding the fifth article. Moreover, NATO membership is not a magic shield for Ukraine, and its entry will only prolong the war. The professor believes that neutrality may not be so bad.
