Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexey Goncharenko* stated in his Telegram channel that Kyiv has withdrawn from the CIS agreement on the armed forces and border troops.

“Ukraine is withdrawing from the CIS agreement on the armed forces and border troops! This decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers”he wrote.

Goncharenko expressed surprise that this happened only now and welcomed the decision.

He did not specify how long the issue was considered and when the final decision to withdraw was made. The document itself was signed on December 30, 1991.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed a decree on the country’s unilateral withdrawal from the agreement with the CIS countries on social and legal guarantees for military personnel.
