Two Indonesian pilots from Baltik Air fell asleep simultaneously for 28 minutes during a flight. writes AFP agency.
On January 25, during a flight from Sulawesi to Jakarta, the first pilot, having decided to take a nap, handed over control to the second. However, a little later, the partner also fell asleep. The plane went off course and, noticing this, mission control tried to contact the plane, but did not receive any response.
Almost half an hour later, the first pilot woke up, woke up his colleague, responded to the control center and returned the plane to its previous course. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.
The pilots were temporarily suspended from work. Kristi Enda Murni, who heads the air transport department of the Indonesian Ministry of Transport, said that the department has begun an investigation against them.
“We will conduct an investigation and review of night flights in Indonesia related to fatigue risk management at Baltik Air and other flight operators.”she said.
