“The most fraud in Russian history”: Russian media assessed the extent of fraud in Putin’s elections

The publication explains the anomaly in the election results in the Russian Federation primarily by the fact that votes for candidates can be physically thrown into ballot boxes or a certain part of them can be attributed to protocols.

According to estimates of voter turnout in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation, this is the most fraudulent election in the country’s history. This was reported by Meduza.

“These were the most dishonest elections in the history of Russia. It is impossible to even estimate the number of stolen votes due to the scale of the fraud,” the document says.

As noted in the publication, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia continues to publish voting data at individual polling stations, which allows us to draw conclusions about how exactly the election numbers give such results. Self-nominated Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin reportedly received 87.28% of the vote, with a turnout of 77.44%.

Based on the information journalists were able to gather, it is difficult to accurately determine the extent of fraud, but the rate is significantly higher than in 2018, when the results of more than a third of the country’s polling stations were to be annulled.

The anomaly in the broadcast results is explained primarily by the fact that the votes for the candidates are physically deposited into the ballot boxes or a certain number of ballot papers are attributed to the protocols.

Journalists also state that the reasons for this situation may include shifting votes from one candidate to another without filling out the ballot papers and the resulting change in the overall participation rate.

Moreover, Meduza noted that turnout in certain regional election commissions is not only the same, but also varies systematically over time. In other words, some regional or regional commissions simply “attract” participation.

Let us recall that earlier analysts at the Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin was trying to use the “record turnout” of voters and his supposed victory to create information conditions for a protracted war in Ukraine.
