The minister noted that the West had actually declared war on Russia. Ukraine is supplied with weapons, which Kyiv uses to fire at civilian and infrastructure facilities. Under these conditions, it is very strange to talk about strategic stability.
Lavrov emphasized that the Americans were corrupted by the submission they sensed from Europeans and other states who were ready to bend under American dictates, threats of sanctions, ultimatums and blackmail.
Let us recall that on March 18, the American permanent representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that Washington wants to enter into negotiations with Moscow and Beijing on the topic of arms control.
Commenting on Thomas-Greenfield’s statement, press secretary of the head of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov indicated that head of state Vladimir Putin has already spoken about the possibility of negotiations in the current conditions with a discussion of the entire range of security topics.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, in turn, noted that Russia is invited to negotiate on nuclear arms control only on US terms and only on issues of interest to Washington.
