Ukraine may ban the evacuation of vehicles during the war

Lawmakers are dissatisfied with the fact that confiscation of cars often takes place without legal basis. In addition, drivers are forced to violate parking rules due to air raid warnings.

The Verkhovna Rada proposed to ban the evacuation of vehicles by parking inspectors during the war. This is stated in the explanatory note of the relevant draft law.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the number of vehicle evacuation cases has increased significantly. It is particularly important that seizures of cars often take place without legal basis.

Lawmakers said drivers had to abandon their vehicles to seek shelter during the airstrike. For this reason, stopping or parking rules are often violated.

In addition, there may be a need for urgent and rapid evacuation during a war situation or state of emergency. This cannot be done if the vehicle is temporarily detained by parking inspectors or is evicted from a lien.

Deputies propose the abolition of evacuation of vehicles in areas where the legal martial law regime or the legal regime of the state of emergency has been introduced.
