In the first half of 2023, second-hand cars with a total value of about 12 billion dollars were sold in Ukraine. Experts shared how the prices of popular models have changed since the beginning of the year. This was said at the Automotive Research Institute.
In June, the price of many popular car models in Ukraine increased. In total, from January to June 2023, Ukrainians posted 1 million 424.8 thousand ads for the sale of used cars.
The total value of cars sold in the first half of the year was $11.89 billion. Of these, in June – $2.22 billion, which is 11% more than in the same period of 2022.
Where do you sell most used cars?
Most used cars were sold in the Kiev region and in the city of Kiev. A total of 244.9 thousand cars were put up for sale there. 121.9 thousand advertisements were created in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and 116.5 thousand in the Lviv region.
The least used cars were sold in the areas most damaged by the war. In the Donetsk region, 28.6 thousand ads were created, in the Luhansk region – 9 thousand, and in the Kherson region – 4.7 thousand.
The lowest average cost of cars was recorded in the Kherson and Donetsk regions. There, passenger cars were sold for an average of $3,000.
The most expensive cars were from the Kiev region and the city of Kiev. In these regions, cars sold for an average of $7,200.
The total cost of cars in the Kiev region and the city of Kiev amounted to $ 2.99 billion. In the Kherson region, this figure was only 23 million dollars.
Average cost of used cars
The average price of cars on sale in Ukraine in the first half of 2023 was $ 5,400. In June, that figure was $100 more.
It was the most expensive cars in May. The average price of a car at that time was $5,800.
The average cost of passenger cars in February was $5,000. This is the lowest figure from January to June 2023.
How have the prices of the most popular cars in Ukraine changed?
The price of many popular cars in Ukraine increased in the first six months of 2023. Only 3 out of 15 models became cheaper.
Volkswagen Golf (+13.4%), Audi A6 (+8.4%) and BMW 3 Series (+6.2%) were the ones that showed the most increases in the first half of 2023. The decrease in value was demonstrated by the models VAZ-2109 (-3.9%), VAZ-2106 (-3.4%) and VAZ-2101 (-0.7%).
