The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has criticized the economic policy measures that were presented last week by the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss. This statement was made by the representative of the fund.
He drew attention to the fact that the decisions of the British Cabinet contradict the current recommendations of the International Monetary Fund.
“Given rising inflationary pressures in many countries, including the United Kingdom, we do not recommend large packages of non-targeted fiscal measures at this stage, as it is important that tax policy does not run counter to monetary policy,” – quoted in BBC News the words of a representative of the fund.
He also pointed out that the reasons for the measures taken by Britain could lead to an increase in inequality in the kingdom.
According to BBC columnist Faisal Islam, such a comment is unusual and suggests that the world is expressing concern about the situation in the UK economy. The Ministry of Finance of the country, in turn, said that the government intends to achieve economic growth and improve the standard of living of the population.
Previously REN TV wrote that the British criticized Liz Truss after the fall of the pound sterling.
