After the results of the conference “Solidarity with the Ukrainian people” in Paris, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on 13 December that approximately 1 billion dollars would be given to Ukraine to pass the winter period.
The decision to provide assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector was taken at an international meeting within the G7, also called “Ramstein energy”. According to the prime minister of Ukraine, half of the funds allocated are grants, and the other half are goods, works, loans that Ukraine will receive this year.
“The result of the conference was approximately $500 million in grant funds, entirely new funds agreed at this conference, and approximately $500 million more in goods, services and additional loans to additionally support businesses in the public sector of the economy.” Shmyhal said at a joint press conference in Paris with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.
In return, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that 415 million Euros will be allocated to Ukraine’s energy sector, 25 million Euros for water supply, 38 million Euros for health services and 22 million Euros for transportation. Colonna said the remaining funds had not yet been distributed.
Evaluating the results of the international conference, Shmyhal emphasized that through joint efforts they managed to create an effective and efficient solidarity platform that will summarize the information on Ukraine’s needs and provide a mechanism for Ukrainian partners.
In particular, the Prime Minister said that Ukraine plans to replace 50 million LED bulbs and that the European Union is ready to finance the purchase of about 30 million bulbs, the cost of which will be only 30 million euros. GW – annual output of a nuclear power plant.
“The main result of the day is a very tangible help to Ukraine so that we can get through this winter with minimal losses,” Shmyhal summed up.
