The list of unrestricted goods includes tools for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.
The United States has extended its waiver of sanctions on Russian agricultural and medicinal products. This was announced on its official website by the US Department of the Treasury on Tuesday, January 17.
“The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control issues a 6C General License for Russia,” the statement said.
This license covers the production and sale of agricultural products, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, spare parts and accessories, and software updates.
The list of goods not covered by US restrictions includes tools for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19.
Sanctions also do not apply to clinical trials and other medical research.
Agrifood stands for food for humans, including packaged products, live animals, vitamins, minerals and animal feed. In addition, seeds of food crops can be transported from Russia to the USA.
The 6C license completely replaces the 6B license that was approved last July.
The US department did not say how long the new license would be valid.
Recall, on January 17, the EU announced the 10th package of sanctions against Russia. It should close any loopholes that Russia has used to circumvent previously imposed restrictions.
Today, the United States imposed sanctions on lawmakers and officials from Belarus. The list includes 25 people accused of suppressing democracy in the republic.
