In Ukraine, after the March indexation of pensions in April, they will increase payments to some citizens. The recalculation will happen automatically and Ukrainians do not need to apply anywhere.
As you know, on March 1, 2023, 10.5 million citizens’ pensions were recalculated within the scope of indexation in Ukraine. The recalculation concerned pensions due to old age, disability and loss of a breadwinner. Payments to soldiers and Chernobyl victims were also revised. Meanwhile, Ukraine’s First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Darina Marchak said on the broadcast of the telethon on Tuesday (March 21st) that the next round of pension recalculation is expected in April.
According to him, from April 1, pensions will be recalculated for working pensioners who continue to work after the appointment of pensions and have gained at least 24 months of insurance experience.
The recalculation will be done automatically, that is, Ukrainians will not have to go to the Pension Fund and apply. As Marchak points out, the recalculation in 2023 will take place in optimal terms:
- or taking into account the length of service after the previous assignment (recalculation) of the pension;
- or taking into account the length of service and wages after the previous assignment (recalculation) of the pension.
In addition, according to Darina Marchak, private pensions will increase by 19.7% as of July 1, 2023. In other words, the state will recalculate the salaries of 22.7 thousand civil servants, scientists and local government employees.
To whom were pensions recalculated in March?
According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), the recalculation affected the most vulnerable categories of Ukrainians receiving payments:
- by disability;
- by age;
- by seniority:
- on the loss of a livelihood.
Minimum insurance payments are also indexed. This applies to:
- Disabled Chernobyl
- Liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The amount of payment for this category of citizens depends on the average salary for 2022. It was noted that the average salary indicator for which insurance premiums were paid at the end of last year was at the end of 2012. 13 387 UAH 48 kop.
