At the same time, the minimum price in the day-ahead market and the intraday market will be reduced to 10 UAH/MWh.
The National Commission for State Regulation in the Fields of Energy and Utilities (NEURC) has agreed on the decision to increase new marginal electricity prices for businesses from 30 June 2023. The Commission voted on the relevant resolution at its 27th meeting.
What’s changing for business?
On the last day of June, the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) and the Intraday Market (DAM) offer three maximum price levels for time slots during the day:
- for the night period, between 00:00 and 07:00, the upper limit of the electricity price for businesses will rise to 3000 UAH/MWh;
- between 07:00 and 19:00 during daylight hours, the upper limit of the electricity price for businesses will rise to 5000 UAH/MWh;
- For the evening with the highest electricity consumption between 19:00 and 23:00, the maximum price will increase to 7,200 UAH/MWh.
At the same time, the minimum price in the day-ahead market and the intraday market will be reduced to 10 UAH/MWh. In the balancing market, the maximum top price is 125% of the day-ahead market price and the minimum marginal price is 0.01 UAH/MWh.
When in Ukraine the cost of electricity will be formed in the same way as the price of gasoline or the Internet.
According to Vladimir Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, Ukraine needs to approach a real electricity market, when the price of the population should be dictated by the market, not the government.
“It’s important to stop price-fixing. The market should set prices, as in consumer-chosen mobile operators. And we need to move towards that. The first stage of transitioning to market prices is: to increase tariffs. Our current market price is about 5-5 UAH per kWh 5. Now kWh Regarding the increase to UAH 2.64 per head, probably the calculation was as follows – they were not able to raise it to market level immediately, because it had a huge social repercussion and they compromised, “He says.
Recall that at a briefing on May 30, Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko spoke about the creation of a new electricity tariff for the population from June 1 – now the cost will be 2.64 UAH per kWh.
We also remember that Ukrainians will be able to conclude contracts for the remote distribution and supply of electricity from the summer.
