The waters have been blocked by Russia since the beginning of the large-scale occupation, but recently the first cargo ship set sail for the Bosphorus. Three more ships will now use the corridor to transport grain and iron ore.
After the Turkish cargo ship Resistance Africa broke the blockade in the Black Sea, three more ships are moving in the temporary corridor. All of these export products are sent to Ukrainian ports to be loaded. Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov announced this on social networks on September 22.
We are talking about the bulk carriers Azara, Ying Hao 01 and Eneida. They will use the temporary corridor for civilian ships to reach the ports of Yuzhny and Chernomorsk. The ships will carry more than 127 thousand tons of Ukrainian agricultural products and iron ore from here to China, Egypt and Spain.
“The first to use the corridor temporarily established by the Ukrainian Navy were the bulk carriers Resilient Africa and Aroyat, which exported more than 20 thousand tons of Ukrainian agricultural products to Asian and African countries,” said the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure. .
Breaking the Blockade in the Black Sea: What is Already Known
Let us remind you that, according to the report of the Ministry of Communities, Regions and Infrastructure Development, five ships have used the temporary corridor since August. First, ships that have been blocked there since 2022 due to Russia’s large-scale occupation left Ukrainian ports.
On August 25, the US State Department hinted at this corridor for the evacuation of ships, stating that they saw “feasible routes” to export products from Ukraine at “pre-war levels”.
On September 21, the first cargo ship loaded with grain arrived at the Bosphorus through the corridor. The ship Resilient Africa left the port of Chernomorsk and carried 3 thousand tons of grain.
