Some pensioners are required to be physically identified at a branch of PFU or Oschadbank. Those who cannot come in person will be able to verify their identity online.
Some Ukrainian retirees may lose payments as early as April 1. Today UA journalists realized who this threatens and how such a problem can be prevented.
Who can lose their pension?
Payments of retirees who cannot pass the identity document may be stopped. This applies to Ukrainians who had the status of internally displaced persons (IDPs) before February 24, 2022 and received money through Oschadbank.
Identification was not required during the coronavirus outbreak, but the situation has changed since July 2023. All pensioners in this category were supposed to undergo the procedure by December 31, but the government extended this period by three months. So, you can define Until March 31, 2024.
How is it diagnosed?
To do this, you must come in person to the Pension Fund branch or Oschadbank where you reside. You must bring your identity documents and retirement card with you.
A separate option has been introduced for retirees who cannot go to the PFU or bank branch in person. You can introduce yourself online via video.
To do this, you need to go to the Pension Fund website and select the “Authentication via video conferencing” tab in the top panel. Then you need to follow the recommendations in the portal itself.
What happens if you don’t introduce yourself by March 31?
Payments of retirees who cannot pass the physical identification document will be stopped. Retirement will not be canceled, on the contrary, it will be postponed. So the money will go to the personal account, but the bank will not send it to the person’s card.
Payments will continue after the retiree’s ID is confirmed. The money must be paid from the date the transfer is frozen.
Let us remind you that the indexation of pensions in Ukraine will be held in March. The salaries of some retirees will be increased by 1,000 hryvnia.
In Ukraine, the insurance period for retirement in 2024 has increased. However, some citizens can retire early.
