Rospotrebnadzor said that COVID is becoming a seasonal disease

Coronavirus is gradually turning into a seasonal disease, like the flu and other SARS. This was told in an interview with RIA Novosti by the deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Natalia Pshenichnaya, answering that experts record signs indicating this.

“Over the past two years, there has been an increasingly clear trend indicating that COVID-19 is becoming a seasonal disease, like influenza and other SARS,” Wheat noted.

According to her, in the autumn-winter period, doctors register the maximum increase in the incidence of coronavirus, as well as a number of SARS and influenza. In summer, the number of people who fall ill with COVID is lower than in autumn and winter.

Pshenichnaya also pointed out that the virus constantly mutates, which occurs primarily in a non-immune organism. This, as the specialist recalled, indicates the need for timely vaccination and revaccination.
