Salesforce employees are using Blind and internal Slack channels to share concerns about layoffs as they prepare for impending layoffs.
Brent Hyder, Salesforce’s chief people officer (CPO), addressed rumors about the layoffs at the company’s online all-hands meeting on the morning of Dec. 13, 2022. But its content did little to assuage employees’ fears of impending layoffs. At the same rally, executives also announced the cancellation of the company’s annual holiday party for the Christmas season.
In an audio recording of the meeting, obtained by Insider, Haider stressed the need to adapt to change and called on employees:
“Focus on results.
The all-hands meeting, led by CFO Amy Weaver, Haider, and other executives, echoed a recent all-hands meeting with CEO Marc Benioff, saying, “I don’t have the opportunity to answer. It was planned to respond to an employee’s question. Two Salesforce employees said Benioff didn’t attend the company’s all-hands meeting on Tuesday.
When asked about reports that the company was about to make more layoffs, Haider stammered and instead began talking about why he joined the company and the lengthy interview he had at the time. And finally, he admitted that he couldn’t give a clear answer on layoffs, urging employees to “focus on results.”
“We will continue to make the right decisions for our customers … and for us, and for other stakeholders, without fail,” Haider said.
“But can we guarantee that to everyone every day? Of course, no one can. But what I can say is that we live by our values. .
We will continue to act responsibly. Change is part of our culture, change is part of our industry. It’s important for us to focus on what we can control. I think we can control the fourth quarter,” Haider said.
Salesforce has faced exodus in recent weeks, including the departure of co-CEO Bret Taylor and Salesforce-owned Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield.
Employees have shared their concerns about layoffs ahead of looming layoffs on anonymous app Blind and internal Slack channels. In a Slack screenshot seen by Insider, a Salesforce employee lamented management’s lack of transparency about the impending layoffs.
“People are mad,” one Salesforce employee told Insider.
