La Opinion backs Miguel Santiago’s re-election to the California Legislature

Democratic incumbent Miguel Santiago and Republican Elaine Alaniz will meet in the November 8 elections for the 54th Legislative Assembly (voting by mail is now possible, of course).

Alaniz’s agenda is broad and reflects his party’s national priorities, not California. You are not sure that you have the necessary qualifications for this task.

La Opinion supports the candidacy of Miguel Santiago and encourages its readers in the area to vote for him.

Santiago has held this position since 2014 and currently chairs the Communications and Transportation Committee.

The new 54th District includes Boyle Heights, Los Angeles Historic Center, as well as Chinatown, East Hollywood, Koreatown, West Adams, Rampart Village, Little Tokyo, MacArthur Park, Philippine City, Pico Union, and three additional cities: Montebello, Vernon and Commerce.

To appreciate his legislative work over the years, we observe how it was reflected in the pages of La Opinion; Although he has sponsored more projects, they have undoubtedly had a positive impact on the life of the community.

So, on the last day of September, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed his AB 1982 motion to protect patients from dentists using the telemedicine (telehealth) system.

On the other hand, on the same day, Newsom vetoed AB 2847, which sought to create a pilot program to expand unemployment benefits for undocumented workers.

Free higher education has been in the focus of Santiago since 2018. He is the author of AB 19 from 2017, which offers a free year of community college education, and in 2019, AB 2 added a second year for free.

Last year, he put forward his AB 2870 law, which expands resources to prevent and prevent weapons from falling into the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves or others.

In June 2021, his proposed SB 156 became law providing high-speed internet access to the poor.

Last April, he sought to promote a financial platform available to undocumented immigrants.

That same month, his AB 570 law allowed now working adult children to add their parents to their health insurance plans, regardless of their immigration status.

This is just a sample. Is there some more.

The new Sixth Street Bridge was recently opened, raising millions of dollars in funding.

Santiago proved to be a prolific legislator and worked hard for the good of society.

So vote for Miguel Santiago’s re-election to the California Assembly on November 8th!
