Israeli army wants to test missile attack warning systems in Kiev in May – media

If the test of the civilian system “Tseva adom” is successful, it will be used in cities with a population of more than one million in the summer. Radar and optical sensor technology captures the approach of airborne threats and determines their size and degree of danger.

The Israel Defense Forces plans to test warning systems for air strikes and rocket attacks in Kiev in May. This was reported on April 20 by the Walla agency, citing senior Israeli and Ukrainian officials.

Tel Aviv had promised to hand over a civilian missile warning system called “Tseva Adom” to Kiev in October last year.

“Representatives of the domestic front and their Ukrainian counterparts met several times in Poland to discuss adjustments to the system. The first test is expected in the Ukrainian capital in a few weeks,” the source said.

After successful tests, the system can be used in several Ukrainian cities with a population of more than one million this summer.

In the past months, officials of the Israel Logistics Command met several times in Poland with representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Sources said they are discussing changes to adapt the software to the war in Ukraine.

“The main result of these meetings was that there was a difference in the size of the territory of Ukraine and Israel and the missiles that Russia launched at Ukrainian cities. All this requires adjustments to the warning system,” the officials said.

The “Tseva adom” system: how does it work?

The Tseva Adom system is integrated into the air defense radar network. Israeli experts deliberately developed this for Ukraine.

“Citizens can quickly and accurately send messages to mobile phones and activate sirens where missiles might hit them. That way, Ukrainians will have more time to reach the bunker,” the authors of the idea told Walla.

“Tseva adom” uses radar and optical sensors that detect approaching air threats and determine their size and degree of danger. All this data is displayed on an electronic map and weather alarms are activated in cities in the affected area.

A special application sends a threat notification. The development and delivery of the Tseva Adom complex was announced on February 16 this year by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen during a visit to Kiev.

Recall that the Israeli company Regulus Cyber developed the Ring system, which provides a “smoother” and more reliable fight against drones. The system allows you to take control of the UAV, forcing it to land or change course.

Focus previously wrote that Israeli defense company Elbit Systems would sell ATMOS self-propelled artillery systems to an unnamed country. Installations were created on the basis of the Czech Tatra T815 VVN 6×6 wheeled chassis. The vehicle uses the Soltam ATHOS 2052 howitzer.
