The President of Ukraine was interested in what was happening in the Supreme Court. NABU director Semyon Krivonos said the response to Vsevolod Knyazev’s arrest was “very even and balanced” – no surprise.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Semyon Kryvonos, head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, after Supreme Court chief Vsevolod Knyazev was detained for $2.7 million in bribes, Krivonos said in an interview with Ukrinform on June 21.
The NABU director claims that the meeting with the head of state took place after Knyazev’s arrest and searches began in the Supreme Court building.
“He called me and asked what happened in the Supreme Court as the head of state. I told the president that the head of the judiciary was arrested for taking bribes. That was all.” conversation,” Krivonos added.
According to him, Zelensky reacted “very evenly and evenly” to information about Knyazev’s arrest and was not surprised.
“He asked what the point was. I say bribe. “Okay, fine.” HEAD.
The official noted that due to the urgent nature of the searches, the investigative proceedings in Knyazev were carried out without a court order.
“Knyazev was actually caught red-handed, he’s currently acquiring illegal profits … From the materials we’ve published, and that’s just some, it’s obvious that there are signs of crime. The rest is now up to us detectives and prosecutors,” concluded Krivonos.
Recall that on May 31, a meeting of the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court was held in the case of Vsevolod Knyazev. The suspect said that the money found on him during the searches belonged to his friends.
On May 28, the media learned that Vsevolod Knyazev continued to receive a salary while in prison. President of the Criminal Court of Appeals Stanislav Kravchenko has been appointed as the new head of the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
