As political scientist Vladimir Fesenko said, the West will limit itself to not recognizing the right to vote in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
The West will not make harsh statements about the election results in Russia. Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko stated this in his comments to Channel 24.
According to him, the West will be limited to not recognizing the right to vote in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At the same time, Western politicians are aware that they are facing a dictator.
“Everyone in the West understands that Putin is not a democratic leader. The voting procedure is undemocratic. The political system in Russia is undemocratic. But they have to deal with a dictator,” the political scientist said.
The expert said that currently Vladimir Putin is perceived only in a limited format. The head of the Kremlin cannot carry out full-fledged foreign policy activities. But the biggest threat to him is the arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
“He is afraid to travel to Western countries and states that recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC. His international rights are limited,” he said.
Fesenko said that they still need to reach an agreement with Putin because Russia is a nuclear power. Many politicians fear nuclear war.
“There is no need to create the illusion that Western countries will stop recognizing Putin. They will deal with him when necessary,” he said.
The political scientist said that Russia is not the only undemocratic country in the world. He cited China as an example. Last year, US President Joe Biden met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, but not before calling him an undemocratic leader.
“Yet they are in contact with him (Xi Jinping – ed.) because he leads China,” Fesenko said.
Let us remind you that Putin boasted about the number of missiles and bullets “shot down” by Russian air defense. The Russian President accused Ukraine of trying to “disrupt the elections” and “intimidate the people” and also said that attacks on the Kursk and Belgorod regions would not go unanswered.
Moreover, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has already congratulated Putin on his victory in the “elections”. He said that he could not call the presidential elections in the Russian Federation democratic.
