No more “special operation”: Putin says Russia is at war

Vladimir Putin’s representative emphasized that the Russian Federation “cannot allow the existence” of a state close to its borders and allegedly documented his intention to “use any means” to “take away Crimea and new territories.”

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the so-called “special military operation” in Russia turned into a war after “the West became a party to the conflict in Ukraine”. The politician stated this in a comment to the Arguments and Facts publication.

“We are at war. Yes, it started as a special military operation, but as soon as this group was formed there, when the collective West joined it on the Ukrainian side, it has already become a war for us.” “I believe this. And everyone should understand this for their own internal mobilization,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Moreover, according to Peskov, the current goal of the Russian Federation is to “ensure the safety of residents” in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.

“What is the President talking about? We have four new federal subjects. The main thing for us is to protect the people of these subjects and liberate the territory of these subjects,” says Peskov.

Peskov also emphasized that Russia “cannot allow the existence” of a state close to its borders, which has allegedly documented its intention to “use any means” to “take away Crimea and new territories.”

Let us recall that Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously said that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not threaten to use nuclear weapons. Peskov also said the West had “deliberately omitted the words” of Putin, who claimed that it “never occurred to him” to use tactical nuclear weapons, regardless of the situation on the battlefield.
