While citizens believe that there is a serious food crisis in the country, the leader orders new anthems to be sung for him.
North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un is forcing the country’s people to sing a strange new anthem praising his “power of love.” Radio Free Asia writes about this.
The new anthem replaced the song that praised Kim Jong Un’s father, Kim Jong Il, who died in 2011.
North Koreans were reportedly ordered to sing a song to salute the dictator before any public event.
The song describes Kim Il Sung’s grandson as “the wisest of 10 million” who “with the power of love creates a better heaven for our eternal happiness.” It was said that the new anthem will be performed in November 2023. At the same time, they ordered an end to all incidents with the song “We will defend General Kim Jong-un with our lives”.
The tribute to the dictator’s father has been used since 1997 to replace the anthem created for Kim Il Sung.
“[Ким] He forced us to start events with songs about his ancestors, even though he had been in power for 10 years, [поскольку изначально] He had no political basis… and wanted to emphasize the legitimacy of his accession to the throne,” says one insider of the publication.
Sakin also added that the songs presented in the fall of 2023 are not new.
The compositions have been performed several times in past years, most notably in 2015, when the anthem was sung by the military during celebrations of Victory Day, a North Korean holiday marking the anniversary of the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War.
Another insider admitted that many North Koreans do not like being told to sing the praises of the country’s leader, as North Korea reportedly faces severe food shortages.
“Residents are struggling with more serious life challenges than during the times of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il,” a resident of the country said.
Let’s remember that Kim Jong-un’s daughter was called by the wrong name for a decade.
