The Ukrainian Football Association demanded that FIFA and UEFA cancel the friendly match between Russia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, a message about this appeared on the organization’s website on Saturday.
“The decision of the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina looks like it is aimed at supporting the actions of the Russian government in Ukraine. Please reconsider the decision, which damages the image of your country and the relationship between our associations,” – said in the appeal of the UAF to the Football Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
On September 9, it became known that the Russian national football team will meet on the field with the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a friendly match in St. Petersburg on November 19.
In March, in connection with the start of a special military operation to protect Donbass, FIFA and UEFA decided to remove Russian athletes from international competitions, because of this, Spartak Moscow lost the opportunity to play in the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, and the Russian team was excluded from the 2022 play-offs in Qatar. In May, UEFA suspended all Russian clubs and national teams for the 2022/23 season. Clubs will not be allowed to European competitions and the Russian team will not participate in the League of Nations.
After the cancellation of international matches, representatives of the Russian Premier League planned to create a new football tournament in Russia – the League Cup, but on July 14 it became known that the RPL voted against this decision. Instead of the League Cup, an updated Russian Cup will be held.
