The International Football Federation (FIFA) has launched a disciplinary case after the head of the Spanish federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, kissed soccer player Heniver Hermoso at an awards ceremony.

“FIFA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to respect for the integrity of all human beings and strongly condemns any action contrary to this,” the organization said in a statement.

FIFA promised to provide additional information after the decision is made.

The incident occurred at the awards ceremony for the winning teams of the Women’s World Cup, which was held in Australia and New Zealand. Rubiales kissed the representative of his country on the lips.

Apologies alone didn’t help. The actions of the head of the Spanish Federation were condemned by a number of members of the country’s government. According to a number of media reports, Rubiales faces up to six months of disqualification. He refused to resign.

Recall that in 2020, Rubiales was accused of beating a woman.
