Euro 2024: Italy – Ukraine: who will show the match with the current European champions?

Already on Tuesday, September 12, the Ukrainian national football team will play against one of the strongest teams in the world for the second time in the last four days – after the draw with England, Ukrainian football players will play with the Italians. The football match between Ukraine and Italy will start at 21.45 at the San Siro stadium, where Andriy Shevchenko, the former head coach of the Ukrainian national team, spent his best days in football.

The Italian national team’s qualification for the 2024 European Championship cannot be called successful. The Ukrainians have also already played four matches in the Euro qualification qualifiers. Thus, the Blue and Yellows beat England (0-2) in London, North Macedonia (3-2) in Skopje, Malta (1-0) in Slovak Trnava and beat England in Wroclaw. It was a draw (1-1).

Thus, according to the results of the five rounds, the Ukrainian team takes second place in group “C” with 7 points. England are leading with 13 points. Italy and North Macedonia teams have 4 points each, but Malta could not get a single point.

Meanwhile, Italian national team defender Federico Dimarco has already stated that the match at San Siro should only end in victory for his team. For example, any other consequences of the fight are not even taken into account.

“We must play against Ukraine as the real Italy should play and get three points. Our victory against Ukraine is important for our future, so we must beat our opponent,” he said.

At the same time, midfielder of the Ukrainian national team, Georgy Sudakov, noted that Sergei Rebrov’s coaching staff also prepares its players only to win.

“Yes, the Italians lost the first qualifying match, but now they will be angry, they will prepare for our match as if it was their last match, because this is their last chance to rectify the situation. But we are also going to get points, ” emphasized the Shakhtar Donetsk player.

Interestingly, the teams have met eight times before. Six times luck was on the side of Squadra “Azura” and a draw was recorded two more times. The last match was played in 2018, and then the teams played in a friendly match with a score of 1:1.

We should also point out that Sergei Rebrov cannot trust Dynamo Kiev’s defender Alexander Tymchik in the match against the Italians. The football player has left the national team due to his injury.

However, Nikolai Matvienko, who had health problems in the match against England, has already recovered and is training with all his teammates.
