Bugatti: no electric cars and SUVs in the next 10 years September 08, 2022 27

Even car manufacturers specializing in ultra-high performance cars, such as Lamborghini and Ferrari, have decided to bring SUV models to the market. In particular, in just a few days, Ferrari will present its first SUV. Apparently, however, Bugatti won’t go down this path at least for now. When the brand came under the control of Rimac, it was curious to see what the Bugatti of the future would look like.

In an interview with the German magazine Automobilwoche, Mate Rimac showed that in the next 10 years the appearance of Bugatti SUVs should not be expected. Also, again in the next 10 years 100% electric model will not be presented.

NO ELECTRICAL WIRE FOR THE MOMENT

The decision not to showcase an electric car is surprising, especially when you consider that all the luxury brands are now developing a battery-powered model. Ferrari, for example, is due to introduce its first battery-powered model around 2025. Lamborghini, however, about a couple of years later. In addition, today Bugatti can benefit from Rimac’s extensive experience in electric vehicles.

In any case, even if we don’t see an all-electric model anytime soon, Bugatti certainly can’t ignore electrification as increasingly stringent emission regulations will affect its production. It was because of the rules that Bugatti had to “fire” its W16 with the Mistral roadster. In addition, Mate Rimak admitted that the hypercar, which will appear in 2024, will have highly electrified powertrain. Therefore, Bugatti will focus on the plug-in hybrid for the time being.

There is no exact technical information for this device. Of course, Bugatti will be able to use the synergy with Rimac and the Volkswagen Group to develop this new powertrain. At the moment, we only know that one of the goals is to have an autonomy of at least 50 km in electric mode alone.

So information that allows us to get a little better idea of the direction Bugatti will take in the near future. So, all that’s left is to wait for more details on the future ultra-high-performance vehicles that this automaker will bring to the market.
