Ssangyong ready to restart after being rescued Korean company KG Group. The carmaker, which may soon change its name to KG Mobility, is preparing to launch a series of new models on the market. One of them will be an electric SUV called SsangYong Torres EVX which will be officially unveiled on March 30 at the Seoul Mobility Show 2023 along with other new models and concepts.
Before the official presentation, the Korean automaker wanted to share some first information about the new electric SUV which at any time may appear on the European market.
Styling heavily incorporates that of the endothermic SsangYong Torres. The main differences are in the redesigned front end. We can see the presence Extremely slim LED headlights and horizontal development. The grate is clearly closed due to the lack of an endothermic engine. The SUV has a massive shape, with wide wheel arches and roof rails. The automaker does not show the rear of the SUV, but hints at a full-width LED bar.
As for the interior, the SsangYong Torres EVX offers a plethora of tech, starting with having a large dash that includes instrument screen and infotainment screen. The style of the dashboard seems to be minimalistic, with few physical controls. You can also note the presence of wooden inserts.
At the moment, no exact details about the technical characteristics of the power unit are reported. It’s hard to imagine that a car manufacturer could have chosen to use a Korando e-Motion powertrain consisting of a 140kW motor powered by a 61.5kWh battery (55.3kWh useful). Most likely, a more powerful transmission and, above all, a larger battery will arrive for the new SsangYong Torres EVX.
We’ll be sure to find out more at the end of the month when the automaker reveals all the secrets of this new model and all of its new vehicles on the way. The official presentation could also be an opportunity to learn more about the possible entry of an electric SUV into the Old Continent market.
