High technologies for air defense: Germany will supply Ukraine with six TRML-4D radars

The amount of the contract with the German company Hensoldt exceeds 100 million euros. Radars quickly detect 1500 targets within a radius of up to 250 km.

Germany wants to produce 6 TRML-4D radar systems and transfer them to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This was announced by the manufacturing company Hensoldt on May 16.

TRML-4D radars, as they say in the organization, are needed to strengthen the air defense of Ukraine. The order amount exceeds 100 million euros.

The products will be sent to Kiev in the second half of the year, following the training of Ukrainian operators. Experts said that Hensoldt delivered a large number of TRML-4D radars to Ukraine as part of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system.

According to Hensoldt CEO Thomas Müller, additional TRML-4D radars will further strengthen the air surveillance and air defense network of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“The technology will protect the citizens of Ukraine. We are proud that we were able to deliver the much-needed equipment as soon as possible,” said the head of the company.

The TRML-4D radar uses the latest Active Electronic Scanning Array radar technology with multiple digital beams. Thanks to this, it quickly finds various air targets – airplanes, helicopters and cruise missiles.

“Radar enables operational detection and tracking of approximately 1,500 targets within a radius of up to 250 km,” the company said.

Recall that in April it was learned that four TRML-4D radars were delivered to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Armed Forces use them as part of the IRIS-T system and intercept more than 90% of enemy aircraft.

The Ukrainian army also received ieMHR radars manufactured by RADA Electronic Industries. The technology is able to detect a fighter at a distance of 65 km and missiles at a distance of 14 km.
