Elon Musk’s prediction. SpaceX spacecraft will land on Mars: When exactly?

The founder of SpaceX believes that it will be possible to see the Starship spacecraft landing on Mars in the near future.

According to Earth.com, Elon Musk, speaking to the participants at the 74th International Astronautical Congress held in Baku, Azerbaijan, announced that his company SpaceX plans to land the Starship spacecraft on Mars within 4 years.

SpaceX has already achieved many impressive results in the space industry. Its most recent achievements include the creation of the world’s most powerful launch vehicle, Starship, consisting of the rocket itself and a second stage in the form of a spaceship. But so far the first test launch of this rocket has ended in disaster. In April, SpaceX’s invention was only able to stay in the air for 4 minutes instead of a 90-minute flight, and engineers decided to launch the rocket itself.

Surprise for Elon Musk. SpaceX’s Starship could be used differently: What NASA has to offer

However, speaking via video conference at the next International Astronautical Congress, Elon Musk said that active preparations are continuing for a new test launch of Starship. Musk also believes that the new flight has a good chance of being successful.

After investigating the causes of the Starship rocket accident, the US Federal Aviation Administration requested SpaceX to make numerous changes to the rocket’s design to prevent a repeat of the unfortunate incident. According to Musk, all changes have already been made and a new flight permit is expected in October this year.

Given Musk’s long-time desire to make humanity a multi-planet species, one of his goals is to establish the first colony on Mars. And that’s exactly what the new Starship rocket is supposed to help with. According to Musk, the spacecraft will be able to land on any solid surface in the solar system, including Mars.

Musk said Starship is large enough to accommodate a large number of people on board. Without the goal of creating the first colony on Mars, the rocket and spacecraft would be smaller.

As for the Starship spacecraft’s first landing on Mars, Musk said it could happen as early as 2027, or even earlier. According to the founder of SpaceX, this will be an unmanned mission, and this is actually just an approximate estimate.

Focus I have already written that NASA’s rover captured an unusual “blue sunset” of the Sun on Mars. It is impossible to see such a sunset on Earth, and there are reasons for this.

Moreover Focus wrote that according to a recent study, the journey to Mars would take less than a month if you used solar sails. By comparison, current space rockets will make it possible to reach the Red Planet in 7-9 months.
