Intelligence officials said they were “very pleased” with the new unmanned systems. They make it possible to approach the enemy from afar.
On December 21, soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense showed footage of the use of the PD-2 reconnaissance complex. The device can reach speeds of 100 km and is immune to Russian electronic warfare (EW) systems. The advantages of the new Ukrainian unmanned system are described in the material on the ministry’s website.
Important
Intelligence officers stated that they received a high-tech unmanned aerial system (UAV) from the BO “International Aid Foundation “Come Back Alive”. The complex consists of two drones and a minibus with a ground control station. It is suitable for all types of terrain and moves quickly, saving the lives of operators .
The Main Intelligence Directorate noted that BpAK’s unmanned aerial vehicles can fly up to 100 kilometers, stay in the air for up to 5 hours and are not interfered with by Russian electronic warfare systems. Because of these features, scouts are “very happy” with them.
“This means that the PD-2 can meet the needs of more than one artillery crew in one flight,” said the GUR reconnaissance unit commander with the call sign “Ruben.”
In its message, the Main Intelligence Directorate listed the areas of use of the PD-2 BpAK. For example, it penetrates deep into enemy lines, detects Russian artillery, transmits coordinates of Ukrainian Armed Forces artillery and tracks hits.
Scouts state that the cost of the complex is 25.7 million hryvnia. These funds were collected by Ukrainians. In the photographs published by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of National Defense, an unnamed snow-covered area where the control station in a minibus is located, new reconnaissance drones belonging to the Defense Forces and a reconnaissance unit are seen. The photo also shows some design details of the new Ukrainian design.
Ukrainian drones – details
Attention Focus He talked about the features of the PD-2 UAV, created by Ukrainian designers from UkrSpecSystems. The device is a modernization of the People’s Drone-1 drone, which has been in service with the Ukrainian army since 2020. After the modifications, it began to fly longer distances, carry more load and be controlled from a greater distance.
The Defense Forces are armed with two kamikaze drones named “Scythe” and “Cobra”, also from Ukrainian developers. The drones are unlike the Russian Shahed-136: they fly at distances of up to 900 km and carry 70 kg of explosives. He said that the advantage of the devices is that they are relatively cheap and can be mass produced. Focus Military observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko.
We remind you that on December 11, soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated an example of the effective use of FPV drones on the front line. In particular, the drone blew up the Uragan MLRS, for which it had to fly 30 km. On December 18, explosions at the Russian Morozovsk airport became known: Ukrainian UAVs also arrived there.
