In 2025 Pininfarina will celebrate the 95th anniversary of history. Meanwhile, at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, the company introduced Enigma GTconcept (actually design study) of one GT 2+2 on hydrogen.
The concept is completely virtual and assumes the presence of a central rear engine. Speaking of technical characteristics, Pininfarina decided to adopt internal combustion engine (2.5-litre V6 turbocharged engine, 325 kW) runs on hydrogen which drives the rear wheels, coupled to an electric motor on the front axle (200 kW), powered by a 10 kWh battery. This technical choice allowed the car to have all-wheel drive. Pininfarina reports an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds.
From a design perspective, the concept features a large, continuous windshield that envelops the occupants and provides a seamless panoramic view. The front fenders connect to a low, sleek and extremely reduced front end that integrates all lighting functions into a central light bar instead of traditional headlights. The Enigma GT is 4580 mm long, 1950 mm wide and 1230 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2880 mm.
Pininfarina explains that the rear-central engine layout allowed optimize aerodynamic study front of the car and minimize the frontal area. Together with the use of active aerodynamic elements and careful study of the lower part of the car’s fairing, the company has achieved an effective aerodynamic design that combines minimal aerodynamic drag with significant downforce.
Once on board we find an aircraft-style instrument panel. steering wheelin particular, integrated touch display, and the windshield enhances the driving experience with augmented reality. It provides points of interest (POIs) for smooth navigation, identifies and warns the driver of blind spots, and integrates advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities for enhanced safety. This technology overlays relevant information directly into the driver’s field of vision, enabling more informed and safer driving.
