Volkswagen ID.3 GTX, electric sports car debuts with 286 or 326 hp March 13, 2024 6

Volkswagen revealed new ID.3 GTX “sports” version of the well-known ID.3. Therefore, the German car manufacturer has expanded the GTX line, which now consists of the ID.4 GTX and ID.5 GTX models. At the moment there is no information on prices for this new model on the Italian market.

DESIGN AND INTERIORS

We were first introduced to this version when Volkswagen unveiled the ID.X concept in 2021. However, compared to this prototype, the ID.3 GTX differs primarily in its powertrain, as it only has one electric motor.

In more detail, this model is characterized some design changes which give the ID.3 more character to its appearance. As we have already seen thanks to a series of spy photos, the ID.3 GTX has an updated front end, where we can see a black air intake with a diamond design. New arrow-shaped LED elements stand out on the sides of the bumper.

And there is no shortage of several either. Gloss black elements starting with the mirror caps and new side skirts. At the rear there is a new diffuser, also in gloss black. Also new are 20-inch Skagen light-alloy wheels. The interior has also been redesigned to reflect the model’s greater sportiness.

We find sports seats upholstered in fabric and eco-leather with contrasting red stitching and the GTX logo on the backrests. ergoActive seats are available as an option. The multifunction steering wheel also features red contrast stitching. Speaking of technology, the ID.3 GTX features a new system. infotainment system with 12.9-inch screen equipped with an updated interface that debuted on the automaker’s latest models. There is also ChatGPT, which allows you to expand the functionality of the voice assistant.

ENGINES

The new model will be offered in ID.3 GTX and ID.3 GTX Performance versions. The manufacturer chose the APP550 permanent magnet synchronous motor (PSM) as the power unit. Features of ID.3 GTX 210 kW/286 hp and 545 Nm of torque, enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6 seconds. The maximum speed is 180 km/h.

However, the second model can count on 240 kW/326 hp and still 545 Nm of torque. Top speed of 200 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Both models are powered by a 79 kWh (net) battery that can be charged via HPC stations up to a maximum power of 175 kW. Volkswagen says the ID.3 GTX has an estimated range of around 600 km (WLTP).

Volkswagen has apparently also worked on tuning to make the ID.3 GTX more efficient when cornering. In particular, the Performance model can count on the electronically controlled DCC sports suspension.
