The Princess of Wales wanted to combine tradition and modernity in one gown and is said to have teamed up with designer Sarah Burton to create the perfect dress for her wedding.
But Burton had underestimated the seriousness of the task at the time. “I had no idea it was going to be this big,” he told The New York Times Style Magazine in 2014.
